Wolf in Sheep’s Clothing: Mon May 30, 2011 Corrie Episode Review

Written by Jonathan Harvey, directed by Kay Patrick

John, Fiz and Colin’s body drive out to some woods in the middle of nowhere, knowing Corrie it’s the Red Rec.  Fiz says she’s sorry she ever met him.  John encourages Fiz toMay-30-2011-john-job-stuff help him find something to weigh the body down with. At the Underworld job site, Chris tells Owen that John had left the factory without putting the alarm on.  When John arrives from a long night of playing “hide the body” Owen lays into him. John snaps and tells Owen to do what he wants, he really doesn’t care and to take his job and stuff it. Fiz feels Colin’s blood on her hands and starts to panic besides John saying “you won’t say anything to Maria, will you?”  Fiz runs off to have a shower, but she can’t just scrub John away as much as she tries.

Fiz goes to pick up Hope from Maria who asks if she’s okay since she looks like one hot mess.  Fiz angrily insists she’s alright May-30-2011-fiz-john and tells Maria to just go home.  When Fiz is at home, she gets harassed by John to run away again.  He wants to move to the Scottish Highlands but Fiz just wants her nightmare to end.  Fiz screams at John to shut up since his casual attitude towards moving is driving her mad.  Fiz tells him she’s not going anywhere, not now after what’s happened.  Fiz tells John later that all her life she tried to be a good person but this is very bad.  Poor Fiz figures she’s not a nice person which is why bad things happen to her.  Fiz says she’s going to have to do what bad people do, kiss goodbye all her friends around there, leave Chesney when he’s missing and run.  John says he’s sorry but is happy they’re going to run away. Fiz says they’ll leave in the morning.

In the Hoyle’s Cellar of Horrors, Dorothy wonders how they were taken in by him. Chesney says he’s a wolf in sheep’sMay-30-2011-steve-solicitor clothing and couldn’t be more right.  Chesney starts to wonder that if he killed Charlotte and Joy, how many others has he killed?  I’m sure he’s thinking that he could be next.

It’s the next morning at the Rovers and Becky asks Steve why he kicked off yesterday.  She wants to know how much money he spent, but Steve just rolls his eyes and walks away.  Over at the cafe, Steve speaks with his solicitor and tells her how Tracy is planning on taking Amy away forever.  The solicitor says that she’s confident that he and Becky would be granted partial if not full custody of Amy if it went to court.  And right she is – he and Becky have always looked after her, plus May-30-2011-becky-steve Tracy’s got a shady past.  The solicitor says to keep Tracy from leaving in the meantime she’ll apply for a prohibited steps order.

Back at the Rover’s, Becky gets a visit of her own – but from someone at social services.  The social services lady says she’s just doing a routine check on Max.  Roberta, the social services lady, sees Max and introduces herself as Becky calls Steve for help.  Steve at this point, is at Audrey’s to see Kylie.  Steve tells Kylie that social services are at his place and pretty soon they’ll be over there to talk to her.  Kylie thinks it’s not her problem, but Steve says if they go down, she’ll be going down there with him.  Steve says that he’ll tell her a story about how he and Becky got Max and if she doesn’t back them up she’s going down.  Steve gets to the Rovers and finds a panicked Becky who tells him that social services is here for a ‘routine check-up.’  Steve plays dumb and Becky panics as she thinks they’re goingMay-30-2011-kylie-steve to take Max away.   They speak with the social worker, and she asks about Kylie so Steve admits that Kylie doesn’t live there anymore – that she got married and now lives across the street with full access to Max.  Roberta says she’ll call it a day with them and go in search of Kylie.  Steve gives her the Platt’s address where she works as Becky looks on in shock.

Kylie meets with Roberta the social worker outside Audrey’s so David doesn’t notice.  Roberta says she needs to talk to her about Max after giving her a rude treatment. Kylie says she doesn’t want to talk about Max.  Roberta says they’ll meet tomorrow morning at her place, and Kylie sarcastically says she can’t wait.  At the Rover’s, Becky asks Steve if he’s deliberately trying to screw things up by telling the social worker the truth.  Becky says he’s an idiot and this changes May-30-2011-tracy-ken-wittering everything.  Steve tells her to stop panicking and leave it to her since he’s got a plan – he’ll tell her later.

Tracy goes on to Ken about how much better London will be then Weatherfield.  Amy seems excited about going to the “Big Smoke.” Ken tells her not to dress this idea of London up as being in Amy’s best interest, since it isn’t.  Ken points out a valid point: how can this be beneficial to uproot her from everyone she knows.  Ken wants to know how she’s going to afford London, and Tracy somehow thinks that her floral assistant job should cover it.  When Ken asks who will be watching Amy, Tracy says “pals.”  WHAT PALS?!  Some of that must have rubbed off on Tracy, so she looks up accommodations in May-30-2011-graeme-sean-marcusLondon and realizes how expensive they are.  Steve arrives to tell her that he’s seen a solicitor and he’s seeking custody of Amy and she can’t threaten him with social services.  Steve tells her how social services have already been over and they’re  sure that Max will stay with he and Becky.  Steve says no one will believe Tracy when she tells them about the sale of Max, since Kylie is backing them up.  Tracy says she doesn’t care, and it’s “London here I come” for her.  Steve tells her he’s taking legal steps to prevent her from leaving with Amy.  Tracy doesn’t believe him until he tells her she’s lost the fight.

May-30-2011-sylvie-tonto Xin gets angry at Graeme when he comes back after spending the night with Tina and asks if he slept with her.  He says it’s none of her business, which she takes as a ‘yes.’  Lesson learned here: there is never any benefit to having a wife AND a girlfriend no matter which way you put it.  Graeme tells Xin that last night – they just got carried away, Xin answers.  At the Rover’s, Tina wants to know if Xin has figured out when she’s leaving so they can be back together.  Graeme is tired, but afraid to go home so he just joins Eileen and the boys at the pub.  Graeme follows Sean and Marcus home drunk and tries to stay at Eileen’s for the night.

Roy complains to Hayley about how he doesn’t want to go away and leave his mother running the cafe.  Sylvie says she hopes he’s not backing out and calls him ‘Tonto.’  Roy says that he doesn’t want to leave since his griddle is temperamental.  I think he meant to say girdle.  Sylvie accuses him of patronizing her and that she has cooked food before.  Then later, asks Steve if he knows how to turn off a griddle.

– Fiz to John: “I’m sorry I ever met you.” May-30-2011-tina-snore

– Sylvie to Roy: “Hope you’re not backing out, Tonto.”

– Sylvie to Hayley: “Customers are like Afghan’s Hayley, they have to be trained.”  to Steve: “Sit!”

– Graeme accusing Tina of snoring all night long, then her disputing it!  Puh-lease, she totally snores.

– Graeme drunkenly trying to get Eileen to let him sleep on her couch so he doesn’t have to go home to Xin.

– Steve telling Tracy “You lose. Laters!” And making the shape of an L with his hands in her face.

– Don’t know what’s worse.  How they have a dead body in the boot, and John’s enjoying the view of the moonlight or Fiz only NOW wonder that that makes him a psychopath.

– Poor Fiz crying in the shower.  Kirk would never have done this to her.

– Ken having to deal with Tracy’s wittering on.  Bet he wishes he made that little attic sanctuary a LONG time ago when he had the chance.  There’s something about the way Ken Barlow always looks as though his face is saying “I’m too old for this crap.”  Almost how Steve McDonald is getting.

– What on earth kind of friends does Tracy have in London?! Especially after she became convicted of murder?

– I feel so terrible for social workers.  They do so much and get treated like crap by such low lives all the time.

Turn Back Time: Sun May 29, 2011 Corrie Episode Review

Written by Jan McVerry, directed by Kay Patrick

Fiz sees the body that John has dug up at Underworld and immediately tells him they have to get out of there and the police can deal with it.  Only it’s not so simple sinceMay-29-2011-fix-john-body   John has a certain attachment to this body, doesn’t he?  John panics and tells her “no police.”  Fiz assumes that John just doesn’t want to be on the police radar after his own past crimes.  She is even scared that the body could be Chesney’s.  However, she soon finds that John indeed has something to do with this body – because it’s the body of Colin Fishwick.  John claims that he never killed Colin, he dropped dead, but he and Charlotte buried him to hide their lies.  Fiz is disgusted that John waved her off to work each morning knowing she’d be stomping on his friend’s  grave all day.  Fiz tries to tell him May-29-2011-maria-chris he’s on his own now, but John reminds her that she’s in this too because she took Colin’s mum’s money.  John accuses her of being a loose cannon.  Fiz doesn’t want to listen to anymore, but feels she has no choice.

Maria is freaked out when John and Fiz run back into the house in a panic.  Fiz (again) covers for John in front of Maria and pretends that John botched a job on the work site and that he better fix “it” before Owen finds out. Maria offers to ring Chris, but they both scream “no” in unison to tell her not to.  Fiz asks Maria to take the baby for the night, and she does.  When she leaves, John tells her they’re in this together now.  If he goes down, she goes down with him.  They need to get rid of that body.  He looks in the attic and asks Fiz if the curtains will handle the body weight or if they need to use Chesney’s tent.  Oh, dear. May-29-2011-tracy-likes

Becky tries to convince Steve that there is no way that Tracy will want to leave “Hotel Barlow.”  She tries to propose reverse psychology, but Steve’s not bothering.  Becky says that Tracy likes three things: attention, money and men.  They need to starve her of attention, and let her realize how expensive London is.  Sooner or later she’ll realize that the writing is on the wall.  Steve feels like Amy will have a father that didn’t put up a fight and he can’t take that chance – this isn’t a game.  May-29-2011-steve-rvoers Steve says that as long as Max will be fine that’s all that counts.

Steve basically loses it, and kicks everyone out of the Rovers without even letting them finish their drinks, empties the till, then storms out.  Becky tries to go after him, but Max yells at them for shouting again and she goes to care for him while Steve leaves.  Later, Dev finds Steve gambling away all the money that he has left at the casino.  He gets Steve out of there reminding him that Becky has brought him down all this time and that’s why he’s there throwing his life further away.  When Steve gets back to the street, before he goes back home, he steps into the phone booth and calls social services anonymously about Max Turner staying at theMay-29-2011-graeme-xin Rovers and how it’s “not right.”

Graeme is seen doing up his pants with his shirt off – can we all assume something happened here between he and Xin?  Xin tells Graeme he’s a good person and that’s why she loves him – but he doesn’t think so.  He leaves needing some fresh air.  In the Rovers, the party set that got kicked out of Graeme’s and Xin’s complain about all that went down.  Graeme goes to knock on Rita’s door to see Tina.  Rita lets Tina in and they and Dennis all listen to Graeme grovel for Tina’s affections.  Graeme says if he could turn back time, he would.  Tina smiles and takes him back. Back at the flat, Tina sobs over “fake” photos of her and Graeme’s life together as a married couple.

At the cafe, Hayley tells Roy that they’re going camping for ten days, and he has no choice in the matter.  Sylvie has offered to run the cafe, with the “uppity” Anna.

– I like the divide between Becky and Steve – let’s hope it carries on.

– Eileen knocking Norris in the back with her swinging handbag.

– I found the argument between John and Fiz whether or not to use “curtains or Chesney’s tent” to transport Colin’s body quite humorous.  May-29-2011-hayley-roy

– Funny direction where Steve comes out of Dev’s, and John about to come out of his place, goes back in when he sees someone.  Secrets and lies, secrets and lies!

– Wow, Steve was just cleaning out that till like a mad man!  If only his mother could see this.

– Fiz is finally realized – when it’s so late – just what kind of a psycho John is.

– How could Fiz believe that the body is Chesney’s?  It’s completely decomposed, Ches only went missing a week ago.

– John manipulating Fiz into thinking she’s just as guilty for killing Colin.

– Does it always seem like the Croppers are planning their holidays around terrible events culminating on the street?

– Did Graeme sleep with Xin then directly go over to stay with Tina?!

Big Hole: Fri May 27, 2011 Corrie Episode Review

Written by Martin Allen, directed by Peter Rose

John visits his captives with some coffees and snacks and asks Alan how his head is.  Chesney begs to get let go, but John says “all in good time.”  Dorothy says that he needsMay-27-2011-john-basement a doctor.  John’s captives try to loosen the bar rail they’re attached to down in the cellar so that they can escape.  Eventually, they actually get themselves loose and manage to rip the bar off.  They can now stand up and walk around, but they can’t get through the cellar door to get out of the basement still, despite Chesney’s best efforts with a bar stool.

Carla bites into Owen about hurrying up the job on Underworld since she’s losing money.  John overhears that Owen needs someone new to work on the digging, so he volunteers his help, and Owen has no choice but to accept since he’s down a man.  We all know why John’s volunteered for this position.  Fiz is upset that John has a job – especially when John tells her it’s to get some money for when they run away from Colin.  She reminds him that they’re not running away.  John works his scheming little arse off at the factory just determined to find Colin’s body before May-27-2011-katy anyone else and Owen is impressed with his efforts.  John pours a bag of sugar into the compressor machine so that it will malfunction and he can halt the digging process and buy himself more time – which is what he’s been doing since day one really.  Fiz comes to see John and to bring him some sandwiches.  The compressor breaks, and Fiz is glad thinking that now they’re “tools down” for it to be fixed, John can get a rest.

At Izzy’s flat (never seen before!) we see her and Gray eating breakfast.  She mentions that her arm is hurting since she bumped it in the shower.  Gary is concerned and thinks she should see a doctor, just to be on the safe side with her condition and all.  Izzy is upset that he’s fussing over her and tells her to forget it.  Gary later tells Izzy that he booked her an appointment at the medical centre for her elbow.  She makes him cancel the appointment, but when he won’t she cancels it herself and tells him to mind his own business.  Later, Katy complains that she still hasn’t May-27-2011-gary-caring heard from Chesney to Izzy.  She says her exams are a complete waste of time since she keeps throwing up.  She admits to Izzy that her father might be right about her having an abortion.  Katy tells Izzy that it wasn’t supposed to be this way, and she’s going to that abortion appointment.

Amy and Tracy go into town and refuse a ride from Steve, who tells Tracy it’s not too late to change things.  Tracy says that she and Amy are moving, period.  Diddy Daddy David is STILL going on about Max and Kylie’s rights to see May-27-2011-becky-david him and all.  David convinces her to go to Becky and Steve and push the issue further.  At the Rovers, David makes his way to the back past Betty to see Becky and Kylie follows.  Becky wants him out of there and tells him that there’s no way he’s taking Max to the park.  Becky shoves David and Kylie out of the back room and locks them out.  Betty calls Steve to tell him what’s going on, and he rushes to the Rovers.

Graeme and Xin have to plan their “breakup script” for the party.  They both aren’t looking forward to it sinceMay-27-2011-tina-graeme-pretend neither of them are arguers.  Actually, it’s because they like each other.  Xin snaps at Graeme since she’s so upset over leaving.  She reminds him that they only have so much time together and she wants to enjoy it.  Graeme says it’s all pretend, but Xin says that pretend is a dangerous game.  They both reminisce about what they’ll remember about each other in their short time together.  Graeme tells her that she’ll leave a big hole, but she says Tina can fill it.  At the Rover’s, Tina forces Graeme to think of an argument that will break he and Xin up, but Graeme is wishy-washy.  Tina invites as many people as possible to their flat to witness the breakup but it’s making Graeme nervous.

Steve arrives at the Rovers and gets rid of David and Kylie pronto.  His problems are far from over, because Tracy comes into the pub to announce to him that she’s got a job in May-27-2011-becky-tracy-pub a florist shop in London and she and Amy are moving down there.  She says she’ll let them know when she’s going and they can wave them off.  Steve is upset over Amy, but Becky is only concerned with Max.  Steve gets mad at her for preferring Max over Amy.  Becky gets a wise idea to “talk” to Tracy in a civilized fashion.  Only, there’s really no doing that.  It was all a waste of time, since Becky’s pleas to keep Amy around for Steve’s sake fall on deaf ears.  She leaves, and tells Steve that she went to talk to Tracy, and Steve gets angry with her for interfering.  Later, Steve spills all to Lloyd and Lloyd figures that the best thing that could happen is if social services find out about Max and that they won’t give him back to the crazy mother (Kylie), they’ll keep him there with Steve and Becky and the power that Tracy has over him will be gone.  WOW, Lloyd finally cracked the ridiculous case of Max-for-sale.  Steve says that Becky might go bananas, but “what can you do about that?” Precisely.  Lloyd’s starts sweating over Steve taking his suggestion seriously.  Steve figures that sometimes a man has to gamble.  May-27-2011

John’s plan to halt the digging backfires when Owen passes around sledgehammers and announces that they’ll dig up the floor the old fashioned way.  Luckily, they haven’t found anything yet, and John offers to stay and clean up then lock up afterwards.  Meanwhile, John’s captives still can’t get out of the basement and worry that he’ll either never return to let them out, or only return to “finish them off.” Back on the street, John goes back to “finish work” again, and Fiz complains to Maria that she suspects that John is up to something, since he’s not himself.  Whatever himself is these days?  At Underworld, John digs through until the stench arises and he’s finally unearthed Colin’s rug-wrapped remains.  Owen arrives at Fiz’s inquiring about Chesney and Fiz asks about John.  Owen says they closed down working a long while ago, and this worries Fiz since John said he was working late.  Fiz leaves the baby with Maria and rushes over to the factory May-27-2011-graeme-fight worried about John.  Fix finds John in the factory looking guiltily over the stench of the colin-in-a-rug and looks horrified.  How is he going to get out of this one now?

Graeme tells Xin that when she goes up to Edinburgh he and Tina could come visit her, but she doesn’t believe that’ll happen.  At the party, Graeme and Xin are nervous about their planned row.  David takes his chance to tell Tina that Graeme and Xin seem cosier than ever as a married couple.  At the party, Graeme and Xin start up their argument, however it starts to turn very real as they fight over the fact that they’ll never be able to be together and how Tina can’t keep pretending anymore.  Tina watches with anger in her eyes over seeing that there’s more of a connection between these two than she thought.  She leaves Graeme there for the night in anger, leaving him there with Xin.  Xin admits to Graeme when they’re alone that there was no job in Edinburgh, and the only person she wants to be with is her husband – him.  She admits she lied because she wanted to get away from there and him since she loves him.  Graeme tells her he doesn’t want her to go, and that’s honest.  The two of them look into each other’s eyes and realize their feelings for one another and kiss.

Izzy tells Gary later that with all the time off she’s got now, she’s realized she should have gone to art school.  She thought that just having a job was an achievement because of her disability but now she thinks she should have aimed higher.  Gary, like any man, of course feels that if she’s bored with her life, that means she’s bored with him.

– It’s nice to see Izzy’s flat since she’s such a regular character now.

– Tracy and Amy’s matching red tops.

– Gary’s such a nice devoted boyfriend.  Good thing he doesn’t take after his father in that regard.

– Sean to Marcus: “Would you have me any other way?” Marcus: “There’s an answer to that.”

– David to Becky about Max: “Look, we have a right.”  Becky: “And you’ll have a left in a minute if you don’t get lost.”

– The way Steve patronized Diddy Daddy David.  Too bad he doesn’t treat his wife that way too.  Ha-ha.

– Why does Izzy’s flat seem like the only home with much natural light in it on Corrie?

– David STILL going on about Max and how Kylie has a right to see him.  Could we just put the Max storyline to bed? It’s well past it’s bedtime now.

– I don’t even know why I’m saying this, but doesn’t anyone on the street find it a BIT strange that Tina is inviting people to Xin’s going away party (the woman that her boyfriend cheated on her, then married – which is all anyone else should know) AND attended the party?

– Poor little Max with all these scary, crazy people in his life.  I think it’s ironic that everyone claims to “not want to upset Max” when all they’re ever doing is upsetting this kid.  He should have been adopted out to the Windasses.

– Why on earth is Kylie cage dancing with Tommy Duckworth?  What is with Tommy Duckworth and his obsession with other guy’s girls?

– Can you IMAGINE how bad Colin’s remains must smell?!

Don’t Be Stupid: Thu May 26, 2011 Corrie Episode Review

Written by David Lane, directed by Peter Rose

John is still egging Fiz on to move away from Weatherfield with the impending “threat” that Colin will show his face around there again.  Well, which just might happen May-26-2011-john-hoyle actually.  Fiz reminds John that they have no money and no where to go, plus all of Hope’s support is there.  Fiz is worried about Chesney but John tries to brush his disappearance off.

In the Hoyle’s cellar of horrors, Chesney starts to theorize that too many people end up dead that have been around John.  Chesney thinks that John killed Charlotte and made it look like an accident, and Mrs. Hoyle thinks that John’s capable of anything.  Mr. Hoyle thinks John won’t get away with this!  John arrives back to care for them and tells them he’s doing his best to run away with Fiz.  He unties Mr. Hoyle to go use the washroom, Mr. Hoyle tries to play the hero and tries to grapple with John.  Of course, John is younger and stronger and pushes the weak Mr. Hoyle back causing him to fall down the stairs and bump his head leaving him with a bleeding May-26-2011-owen-fiz head injury.  Mrs. Hoyle begs him to take Mr. Hoyle to the hospital, but John just panics and leaves him there saying “it’s only a scratch.”

Owen finds Fiz at work and threatens that Chesney better not be ‘goin’ ‘round making other lass’ pregnant.”  Seriously?  Any more lass’?  What does he think Chesney is? The great impregnator?  Owen talks to Frank about the drainage problem in Underworld.  Frank ‘swindles’ Owen into giving him an estimate, but they make a deal that Owen is to dig up the pipes.  If nothing is wrong, then Underworld will pay in full, if there IS something wrong, then Owen will foot the bill for the repairs.  Of course, by threatening to sue Owen for more than he can afford.  Will they unearth Colin Fishwick’s telltale stench?

Back at home, Fiz comes in to tell John that the factory’s closing down but just for a few days.  They need to start digging under the floor to find out where that terrible “sewage” stench is coming from and what’s causing it.  JohnMay-26-2011-tina-xin knows very well what’s causing it and you can see in his face that he’s crumbling the last left to crumble.

Tina is missing Graeme, and wants more time for him to herself so tries to oust Xin from their outings.  At least he still remembers how she likes her toast.  Tina has people thinking she’s got a new fella since she’s got “dates” she goes on into town – only they’re with Graeme.  Later, Xin has good news – she’s found a job in Edinburgh.  Tina thinks this is fantastic since it’ll give Graeme and her good grounds to divorce – claiming they can’t do the distance.  Oh yeah, because Graeme’s full-time window washing career is really something to stay in Weatherfield for.  Do you think Graeme will leave to Edinburgh with Xin eventually?

May-26-2011-sylvie Tracy goes into Roy’s and tries to order a soya milkshake, but gets told by Sylvie, Roy’s mum, that “children shouldn’t have allergies.”  Where does she get off?  Tracy puts her to rights and rightfully so.  Tracy figures anyone would think she asked for a unicorn sandwich and she can’t wait to get Amy somewhere “more civilized.” Steve says that moving Amy away won’t benefit her.  Later, Becky assures Steve that Tracy isn’t going anywhere.  She’s got it too comfortable there and won’t leave.  Becky left out the fact that Tracy is in love with Steve so that’s why she won’t leave.

At the salon, Kylie tries to love up Kylie.  David is still on her back about Max and why she keeps him over there with Becky and Steve.  David suggests “doing a Tracy” and just taking the kid off of them that was rightfully hers.  He is May-26-2011-becky-steve right – she could just easily take him off of them.  It’s their word against hers.  They’re the one’s who’ll go to jail if the truth comes out anyway.  In the Rovers, David manipulatively tells Becky that he and Kylie are really thankful that Becky is looking after Max.  He then tells Becky that now that Kylie and he are married and have a settled home other (not really, he lives in his childhood bedroom in his mother’s home, but small detail) and Becky starts to freak and whistles Steve over – like he’s a dog.  Kylie tells David she though they were just coming to the Rovers for a quiet drink.  David says that they’re prepared to go to court over Max but Becky asks Kylie if that’s what she wants.  Fact of the matter is, Kylie doesn’t even want to care for her son.

May-26-2011-jeff-sally At Sally’s, Kev is sat on the couch “hating” watching daytime telly.  Kevin offers to get fish and chips for dinner but Sally turns him down since she’s meeting Jeff.  Jeff takes Sally to a champagne lunch to which she freaks that she has to operate a sewing machine after!  Sounds like fun to me.  Jeff tells her that France with her was the best time of his life, and he only has one regret.  That he didn’t propose to her then.  He gets down on one knee and proposes to her in Nick’s Bistro, only doesn’t get the response he’d hoped for.  She tells him she’s flattered but it’s too soon, and leaves him there.  Later, Jeff goes over to Sally’s to apologize.  He’s upset and ends up telling Kevin that he proposed and Sally said no.  Sally moves Jeff to the conservatory and tells him she can’t even begin to think about being married again.  Jeff accuses Sally of it all being about Kevin, and she’s trying to convince herself that it isn’t. Sally wonders if he ever even thinks she wants to enjoy being a single woman without some over-bearing man trying to run her life.  Jeff should have met Julie instead.  I suppose this is the end of Jeff?

– Sean to Owen at Underworld: “You spend any more time here, you’ll be invited to the staff Christmas party.”

– Jeff’s romantic gesture, even if Sally didn’t appreciate it.

– Yay, Xin got a job in Edinburgh!  Is this the end of this terrible ruin-of-Graeme storyline?

– What on earth was that music in the background of Graeme and Xin’s Tina’s?

– Owen “threatening” Fiz that Chesney won’t be ‘going ‘round making other lass’ pregnant’ if he can help it.  SERIOUSLY?  Other lass’? Pfft.

– Where does Sylvie get off judging other people’s children’s health problems?  Last time I checked, she wasn’t exactly mother-of-the-year.

– Sally BETTER not take Kevin back over Jeff.  Honestly, she’s better off alone.  He’s such a rumpled pair of pants.

– David to Kylie, about their marriage: “And they said it wouldn’t last.”  What’s it been? TWO MONTHS? Ha-ha.

– Are we supposed to believe that John’s captives only need to use the loo once a day?  If that’s even how often John visits them?  Also, was baby Hope just sat in the car or upstairs while he deals with his captives?  Oh, this is SO wrong.

– Why didn’t Chesney try to get past John on his loo break instead of the aged Mr. Hoyle?

Vanished: Mon May 23, 2011 Corrie Episode Review

Written by Jonathan Harvey, directed by Peter Rose

Kylie calls Becky to talk and they meet in Roy’s.  Becky assumes Kylie will want Max back but Kylie assures her she doesn’t want to.  Kylie tells Becky how David is on her aboutMay-23-2011-becky-kylie getting full custody of Max and she doesn’t know what to do.  Becky wants to know why David wants to play happy families.  Kylie has no clue and Becky says that it’s not her problem.  Later in the Rovers, Becky tells Steve about what Kylie told her and she wonders what David Platt wants with a kid and figures he’s so weird.  Steve’s more concerned with Amy and Becky figures Amy’s always sick because Tracy and Deirdre don’t keep a clean house.  That’s hilarious coming from the queen of trash.

Tracy can’t figure out what is continuing to make Amy sick.  Ken questions whether or not she’s been watching all that Amy drinks and Tracy asks him if he think she’s stupid. Tracy goes to tell Steve and Becky how awful Amy is doing and she doesn’t know what she’s doing wrong.  Later, Amy is caught drinking milk by Tracy and May-23-2011-milk-glug runs into Nana Blanche’s old room and locks herself in.  Amy doesn’t open the door, so Tracy calls Steve.  Steve arrives and Tracy tells him what’s happened.  Steve easily gets Amy to come out of her room, then he and Tracy ask her why she drank the milk.  Amy admits that when she’s sick, he comes around and he and mummy are dead nice to each other.  Tracy is actually shocked to find that Amy’s been making herself sick on purpose.

Tyrone is guilty over what he’d done to Kev’s lift machine and how it might come back to him.  Sophie can’t believe that someone would do this to Kevin on purpose and Kevin reminds the girls that not everyone as nice as she thinks.  Kevin thinks it’s Tommy who’s done the damage since he sacked him the day it happened.  JeffMay-23-2011-tyrone-hate arrives at Sally’s, but she doesn’t let him in at first since she hasn’t told him that Kevin will be recuperating there with his love child.  She invites him in anyway, and it’s awkwardness all around.  Kev goes to the garage and accuses Tommy of being the one who broke his lift.  Later, Tommy’s angry at Tyrone and says he won’t go down for him.  Tyrone goes to Kev’s and tells Kev that he was the one who ruined the lift.  Kevin says that he didn’t know he wanted him dead, but Tyrone protests it was an accident.  Tyrone admits he hates Kevin and he’s done everything wrong.  How it wasn’t fair that he got that lift, so he wrecked it so it’d hurt May-23-2011-bogs-underworld him, but he never wanted to kill him.  Kevin tells him to get out of “his” house.  Kevin cries later to Sally about how Tyrone tried to kill him.

Carla finds Owen to complain to him that they’ve got a problem with their drainage at Underworld since the toilets are all backed up and the drains clogged.  Owen says he’ll take a look.

Katy’s still worried about Ches, but Owen thinks that he’s just done a runner and it’s a waste of time for her.  Owen asks Katy if she’s had a thought about the abortion again, but she walks away.  Owen accuses Anna of keeping secrets and Anna tells him that if he’s got problems with his daughter, it’s not her problem. Anna tries to have a heart to heart with Owen in the cafe and how it must be hard for his girls not to have a mother around.  Anna tells Owen that his daughter needs his love, not his anger.  May-23-2011-fresh-start

Fiz is still worried about Chesney as well since she’s gone to all his mates and no one’s heard from him.  It’s like he’s just vanished.  John tells Fiz that now that Hope is better they should leave Weatherfield and make a fresh start.  Fiz is going to take Ches’s photo to the police and report him as missing.  John rips up Chesney’s photo and tells her that she can’t go to the police.  John lies (again) and tells Fiz that Colin’s back in the country.

Okay, are you ready for this?  There’s more Aud/Claud drama.  Claudia sees Audrey in the Rovers and it’s a frosty meeting.  Claudia asks if Audrey’s meeting someone to which she says she is.  Claudia says she doesn’t want to throw their friendship away over a guy like Marc, to which Audrey replies she wasn’t sure they were that great friends.  Claudia says she should just call a spade a spade: Marc is weird.  It’s at that moment that Marc walks in, clearly Audrey’s intended guest for the evening.  Claudia storms out but not after a few raw insults.  Audrey tries after her and they row further in the street and it appears the friendship (or whatever it was) is over.

May-23-2011-ken-storm-off Tracy and Steve ask Amy why she didn’t just come to them – but the answer is obvious as they begin to row.  Steve tells Amy that her health is serious but Tracy thinks that Steve should go and Amy doesn’t feel well.  Before Steve leaves he threatens Tracy not to go twisting Amy against him.  Ken later tells Tracy that this is serious and he cannot believe that Tracy’s behaviour has lead to this.  Ken accuses her of storming off to let someone else look after her child, again.  At the Rovers, Steve tells Becky what happened and Becky still thinks Tracy could be putting her up to it.  Becky tells Steve that Amy will be alright because she has three parents.  Steve reminds her that her three parents have had their eye off the ball. Tracy apologizes to Amy for not paying enough attention to her and makes her promise to tell someone if she’s upset about something.  Ken tells Tracy not to blame herself (why not?) since this is a very fractured way for a child to live.  At the Rovers, Steve reminds Becky that it’s the fact that they bought Max and Tracy had it over them which is why Amy is suffering.  Becky tells Steve that she knows they’ve had aMay-23-2011-John-crash-die nightmare getting Max and that the mess of things isn’t Max’s fault, so not to take out things on Max because of the mistake they made with Amy.  Tracy arrives to work things out with Steve, which bothers Becky immensely.  Steve proposes that they start doing things as a family regularly, every other weekend, plus he wants an hour every week after school.  Tracy says what Amy did was extreme and it needs more than window dressing.  Tracy says that Amy’s life is fractured and she needs stability and constants.  Tracy tells Steve she’s moving away with Amy and she’s going to start again.  Oh, boy, I can’t even begin to describe how terrible this is.

John tries to convince Fiz that they need to leave because Colin will find them and they’ll be in trouble.  John makes up some story that another teacher has seen him and it won’t take him long to figure that his mother’s dead and someone’s stolen his money.  Fiz says they can’t just disappear when Ches’ gone.  Fiz is convinced that Colin won’t show his face around.  Fiz puts her foot down and says they’re not leaving and tells John to go to the shops so John May-23-2011-lady-gag storms out.

At the Hoyle’s the hostages are looking a bit ripe, and rightly so.  Mr. Hoyle is singing something to himself and Ches wants to know if it’s a Lady Gaga song.  Mrs. Hoyle starts to panic about cellar people being locked up.  Chesney tells them more about what he’s found out about John and how he was around when Joy Fishwick died too.  Mrs. Hoyle seems horrified at the fact that John might have murdered Mrs. Fishwick.  She starts to suspect that he’s murdered Charlotte too.  John arrives with a Freshco’s bag.  I suppose he did was Fiz told him to and did the shopping after all.  Bonus, he got wet wipes.  Mrs. Hoyle asks John if he was bad as a child, but John says he’s not an evil man but he can’t let them go yet. They Hoyles want to know what he’s going to do next, but Ches says he’s not got a clue.  John says that he and his family are going away and he’ll make a call once they’ve gone away and they’ll all be rescued.  Chesney asks what if something goes wrong like if something happens to him and they’ll still be locked down there.  John says he’s got airbags.  Chesney begs to get out of there, but John says he’s not helping himself and just leaves.  Well, almost leaves.  He’s in for a shock when he goes upstairs and finds a woman has let herself into the Hoyle’s.  She asks if the Hoyle’s are in, to which he replies they aren’t.  It seems this lady is some kind of helper/housekeeper and is looking around for Mrs. Hoyle’s notes.  John tries to get rid of her saying that Mrs. Hoyle wants to get rid of her.

Fiz arrives home later to find John sat in the dark.  He immediately turns the lights off and tells Fiz in a panic that Colin was there and he knows about everything.  He tells FizMay-23-2011-pas-tin-past they can’t stay there.  John lies and tells Fiz that Colin’s given them a week to return every single penny of his money but Fiz says they’ve not got it, but they’ll find it or ask them for more time.  John says that “Colin” told him if they don’t have it he’ll make sure everyone knows what they’ve done.  John tells Fiz for the sake of Hope they have to run.

Meanwhile, at the factory, Owen’s having the plumbing situation investigated and the engineer thinks that the problem is in the building.  Carla and Owen argue over it being his fault that there’s a problem since he did the construction work on Underworld.  We all know something’s rotten in Weatherfield and it’s nowt to do with plumbing! The engineer tells them that they’ll have to dig a bit deeper inside to find what’s up.  Owen and Carla May-23-2011-eileen-sally argue about the stench in the factory and Carla wants him to dig below and he doesn’t want to unless she pays more.

Tyrone panics that the police are going to come and get him while Tommy is worried about the clubs.  Kevin comes to his door to talk.  Kevin figures they’ve both caused enough harm to each other – but Tyrone disputes that what he did was an accident.  Kevin figures if he goes to the police, that could jeopardise the garage’s future.  Kevin figures this might be the best way of calling “the past the past.”  Tyrone can’t believe that Kevin is proposing they bury the hatchet and Kevin leaves him to think about it.  Tommy thinks that Tyrone has a right to be bitter – end of.  Tyrone goes over to tell Kevin he’s not giving up the garage.  Tyrone doesn’t want to live with bitterness so he’s going to let things be forgiven – but just for work.  They’ll never be mates.

Eileen sees Sally with Jack’ in the pram and she tells Eileen she’s just child minding.  Eileen thinks it’s the weirdest thing in the world but Sally feels she had no choice.  Sally tells Eileen all about her romantic trip to France with Jeff and she’s not back on Kev.  Sally tries to rub it in Eileen’s face all of that which she saw with Jeff.  Marcus is on the street to see Sean again.  In the Rovers, Eileen moans to them about Sally and Paris.

– Ken to Tracy: “Tracy, both you and I know that you have a tendency to be…uh…how do I put this nicely…slap-dash?”May-23-2011-claud-aud

– Becky to Kylie: “Do you have any bones in your body, or do you just flop when you stand up?”

– Tracy to Amy: “Nana Blanche’s ghost is in that room Amy.  I’d hate to be caught in there on my own it’s really scary!”

– Claudia to Audrey: “Don’t hate me ‘cause you ain’t me, Aud.”

– Did Tyrone get a new fridge?

– Has Sally had a facelift?

– Okay, I know why John is telling Fiz that they should move from Weatherfield, since he killed people and his currently holding a few hostage – including her brother – butMay-23-2011-balnche-ghost seriously, he wants her to move when her brother’s missing?!

– Can Kevin EVER calm down?  He is always such a misery and a crank.

– Kevin tells Tyrone to get out of “his” house.  Oh, it’s HIS house again now? That didn’t take long.

– Tracy to Steve: “I have never, ever raised my voice to that little girl [Amy].”

– Tracy is shocked that Amy is making herself sick on purpose?  Did she think she was coming back to a perfectly sound little girl after being locked up in jail for murder and then returning to rip her from her only home?

– How does the Hoyle’s errand lady NOT find John completely suspicious?  He has his coat on.  He has no alarm equipment nor is there an alarm installed…

– Poor Tyrone as he had to suck up his pride to Kevin Webster and all while looking at Baby Jack.

Little Girls: Fri May 21, 2011 Corrie Episode Review

Written by Mark Wadlow, directed by David Kester

Fiz and John (well, Fiz) are still waiting around to hear from Chesney and where he’s gone to.  Fiz knows that this isn’t like Chesney.  John tells Fiz not to upset herself andMay-20-2011-fiz-katy that wherever Chesney is, he’s safe and well.  We shoot over to Ches and the Hoyles tied down to the bar rail in the Hoyle’s cellar not looking very safe and well to me.  It’s a good thing none of them needed to use the washroom whilst tied up for days.  Katy arrives and agrees with Fiz that it’s not like Chesney to run away.  John tells them some lame story about him sneaking off for a couple of days when he was 16 and not telling anyone.  Yeah, he probably murdered some people then too.

May-20-2011-katy-owen-angry Katy sees her dad and accuses him of finding someone to get Chesney or putting harm his way.  Owen says that her being pregnant is his worst nightmare and he’s angry she kept it a secret but he didn’t do anything to her boyfriend.  Katy tells Owen she’s scared and Owen hugs her and tells her he’ll show up soon enough.  Katy says she thought Chesney was different.  Katy flips when her dad produces some literature on an abortion clinic saying he’ll pick up the tab.  Katy tells him that she’s keeping this baby but he says it’ll ruin her life.  Katy tells her father that this baby was planned – not an accident.  To which, he has his turn to flip out.  Katy tells him that they love each other and they want to start a family.

Katy is on a rampage and runs into the cafe and gets angry at Anna for assuming she blabbed her pregnancy to her father.  Anna saysMay-20-2011-hoyles-shock she’s said nothing to Owen, and Katy tells her that he knows now and in fact everyone knows.  Izzy walks in and asks Katy if the pregnancy rumours are true.  Katy tells her she’s sorry and that no one’s supposed to know.  Katy tells Izzy that her pregnancy wasn’t an accident – they wanted to have a baby.  Katy tells Izzy that Chesney was thrilled until Owen found out, then he did a runner.  Izzy asks her if she’ll be able to raise a baby on her own if Chesney doesn’t return.  Katy insists that Chesney wouldn’t leave her in the lurch.  Izzy tells Katy that she’ll be there for her, but if Chesney does not return this won’t be a dream family, she’ll be a single struggling mother.  Katy panics and says she can’t do this on her own and maybe her dad’s right – she’ll just be throwing her life away.  Within minutes, Katy changes her mind about having the baby.

In the cellar, Mr. Hoyle wishes he hadn’t soundproofed the cellar now.  The Hoyles are told by Cheney that John’s done this before (Rosie) but no one got harmed.  Well, not in THAT instance.  John tells the Hoyles that Charlotte was in on the whole Colin thing and that she liked a good secret when he comes and brings them provisions.  The victims complain about being held hostage but John tries to force them to eat.  Chesney calls him a psycho and John says he’s right but he can’t let them go – not yet – it’s too May-20-2011-tyrone-smash risky.  John is going to let them have a comfort break one at a time upstairs.  They want to know what really happened between he and Charlotte and John tells them she was a friend who got caught up in crazy stuff.

Kevin accuses Tyrone of being jealous of his new hydraulic lift but Tyrone just thinks it’s funny that Kev can’t even operate it.  Maria comes into the garage and tells Tyrone she needs her tires checking.  Since when does she have a car?  Kevin is on the warpath and sacks Tommy and threatens him to go to the tribunal. Kevin tells Tyrone that if he wants to employ Tommy it’s at his expense.  Tyrone is enraged by Kevin’s antics and takes a wrench to Kev’s fancy lift which starts oozing oils – or lubes – I really don’t know but it doesn’t look good.  Tyrone plays with the idea of moving to Australia or somewhere and leaving Weatherfield with Tommy’s encouragement.

Back at the garage, Kevin uses the lift for a truck as he sees Sally and Jeff return from their romantic holiday in Paris.  Rosie asks Jeff and her mum how their holiday was and what they did.  Three guesses Rosie, first two don’t count.  In the garage, Kev gets his pant leg stuck on the lift and tries to operate himself out of it.  Only, the mechanics aren’t working properly and he manages to trap himself underneath the lift.  He’s almost crushed before he quickly thinks to jam a random metal tube into the scissor of the lift to stop it from completely collapsing, only it doesn’t.  The lift malfunctions and collapses trapping Kev underneath.  May-20-2011-amy-steve

Steve goes over to No.1 and inquires about Amy.  Ken and Tracey tell him she’s not better and they’re going to the hospital.  Amy tells Steve she needs to go for more tests at the hospital and asks him to come with her.  Steve tells Becky that he’s got to go to the hospital with Amy later and Becky thinks Amy’s got him wrapped around her little finger.

In the salon, Kylie asks David why he’s always going on about Max.  She thinks that Becky and Max are good and she doesn’t want to upset Max.

May-20-2011-Kevin-hurt Kevin cries for help while crushed under the lift, only no one hears him but Tyrone and Tommy as they’re walking past.  Tommy finds Kev trapped under the lift and orders Tyrone to call 999.  Tyrone manages to saw Kev’s pant leg from the lift and he and Tommy drag him out from underneath.  Sally runs over after seeing the ambulance and is shocked to see Kevin injured on the ground.  In the hospital, Sally and Rosie are told that Kevin’s collarbone is broken and it’s even very painful for him to breathe.  How will he take care of baby Jack?  Kevin can’t believe that his twenty grand hydraulic lift almost killed him and thinks it was faulty.  Kevin asks Jason to call the company and that all the paperwork is in his office and to threaten legal action and he wants the fault investigated today.  Sally wants to know why he just doesn’t have Tyrone call them – like she even needs to ask.  May-20-2011-sally-bedside-kev

Meanwhile, in the pub, Tyrone is having a guilty few drinks while Tommy thinks what happened to Kevin is all down to karma since he’s a snake.  Tyrone goes to the garage and finds Jason there with the investigator and the investigator says there wasn’t a problem with the lift, but the machine has been damaged deliberately.  The investigator says that Mr. Webster’s lucky he survived and Jason is in shock – but not Tyrone.  Meanwhile, Sally is feeding Kevin his hospital lunch but he doesn’t want to eat.  It appears she’s also forgotten about her fancy dinner with Jeff and it’s obvious that Kevin is more of a priority.  This Jeff has the patience of a saint.  I’m May-20-2011-jeff-ring personally in shock to see that he had an engagement ring in his possession.  At the hospital, Kevin tries to leave saying he’s got to pick his son up from the child minder’s since he can’t leave him there overnight.  The doctor says it’s a problem that he is the sole carer of a baby when he’s physically unfit to be.  Sally asks about Bill before she offers to take the baby and her daughters and her can watch him until Kevin is on his feet again.  But as soon as he’s fit – it’s back to his flat back to normal.   Later, Kevin thanks Sally for doing this for him since most ex-wives wouldn’t.  Sally insists she’s doing it for that innocent baby, not him.  Jason arrives and tells Kevin that someone’s attacked the lift – it wasn’t faulty.  Back on the street, Tyrone admits to Tommy that it was he who broke the compressor.  Tyrone figures he’s going down for attempted murder.

Graeme is washing the windows of Nick’s Bistro (I didn’t even think it had windows) when Cheryl complains that she’s got a full wedding party reception and no staff.  Erm,May-20-2011-faye-anna what about Gail?  Ha-ha, yes that was a joke.  Graeme offers that his wife, Xin, is an experienced waitress and she’s a quick healer and she could bear her in mind for the future.  That’s just what Tina would love.

Anna’s combing out Faye’s hair for her before bed when Anna reveals that Katy had been crying all night since she’d had massive bother with her dad.  Anna knows that it was Faye who blabbed to Owen about Katy’s pregnancy.  Anna wants to know if she let it slip by accident and Faye takes the defence.  Faye says that if Katy is thick enough to get knocked up then she deserves a shouting at.  Well, Faye rules with an iron fist.  Faye figures that Anna wants a baby, that’s what she really wants.  Faye runs away and Anna is desperately running around the street looking for her.  Xin says that she just saw a bus leaving if she’s old enough to take a bus.  Only, May-20-2011-katy-family Sophie tells Anna she say Faye go into the shed only five minutes ago. Oh, yes, Darryl’s old shed.  Anna knocks on the shed door and Faye thinks that Anna thinks she’s a big mouth pain in the bum.  Anna scares Faye out of the shed by saying there’s spiders in there.  Faye comes out and apologizes to Anna about Katy.

Izzy tells Katy to weigh out her options and not to run into something she might regret.  Owen just wants this abortion done with – of course.  Katy still hopes that Chesney will come back.  John and Fiz are in the hospital to have Hope’s ultrasound and it looks as though everything is quite as good as it should be.  Which, is pretty much the only good news of this episode.  Fiz and John return from the hospital and Fiz decides to go out looking for Ches and that she’ll start with his old mates.  Fiz says she can’t settle until Ches is home, then leaves.

Amy, Tracey, Steve and Max arrive back from the hospital and Steve isn’t paying attention as Max runs into the road, but David does see him and runs into the road fastMay-20-2011-altercation enough to scoop Max up before he gets hit by Jeff.  Of course, Becky comes out and picks Max up and cradles him in her nauseating way and asks what the hell is going on.  David blames Steve for being too busy chatting up Tracey to keep his eye on Max.  Steve is with his family – Max and Becky while a sad-faced, ill-forgotten looking Tracey and Amy look on.  Later at home, David has it out with Kylie over how Max isn’t safe living with Steve and Becky.  David insists that Max would be better with them and she knows it.  Kylie May-20-2011-amy-milk feels sorry for Becky because they can have more kids, but she can’t.  David says that Becky can play auntie to all those kids.  Amy later comes into try and get Steve to read her a book but of course, Becky and Steve read her books ONLY when she’s over there otherwise mummy reads her books.  Amy’s jealous that Max gets her father’s time instead of her.  At No.1, Amy sneaks downstairs to drink milk again to continue making herself sick.

Oh, really, Marc is back?  I thought we’d finally seen the end of this terrible storyline.  He comes into Nick’s Bistro with AudreyMay-20-2011-audrey-marc treating her to a dinner.  It’s “the least he can do.”  The least he can do is nothing actually.  Marc goes on talking about women’s clothing to Audrey – this time how he used to fondle his mother’s old red silk kimono.  He should really get in contact with Ken, they can talk about Kimonos all day.  He obviously has mother issues, and maybe that’s why he’s so taken with Audrey.

At Nick’s, Cheryl sees Xin and Graeme in there and tells Xin that when her foot’s better she should come in for a chat since they’re always looking for experienced wait staff.  Tina is irked and tells both Graeme and Xin that the idea is for Xin to move on with her life not get a job over the road.

– Sally looks lovely and refreshed from her romantic trip to Paris with Jeff.

– Owen to Katy: “You don’t get it do ya?  This isn’t about Chesney.  You could be up the duff to Prince Harry for all I’d care and I’d still be saying you’re sixteen and too young to be a mother.”

– Rosie to the hospital nurse about her father: “Will he be, like, disfigured?”

– Why is Kevin so excited to show Dev his hydraulic lift?  How on earth would Dev appreciate something like that?

– Deirdre is visiting Bev?  Bev, Bev?

– Kevin and Tyrone are fighting over the garage.  Big surprise here, I have no idea how they could even work together after the horror of Molvin.

– John is a fantastically calm crazed maniac!  Talking about cricket and the military with Mr. Hoyle.  Honestly!

– Is window washing a very profitable business?  Graeme seems to get by washing only a street of windows everyday.

– Becky scooping Max up and cradling him in that same annoying way she always does.  What a whole bizarre scene this ways anyway, with Jeff apologizing for almost hitting him, Tracey trying to teach Max a lesson never to run into the road, Cheryl trying to calm things down, Becky fussing, David pointing fingers and Steve just sat there with his trademark “I hate my life” sulk on his face.

– What’s with the sleazy lap-dancing music in Nick’s Bistro?  Was that Cheryl’s choice?

Wrong Place, Wrong Time: Thu May 19, 2011 Corrie Episode Review

Written by Mark Burt, directed by David Kester

John wonders if Hope recognizes him because her eyesight isn’t fully developed.  John is a troubled, troubled man.  Chesney goes over to Fiz’s to check things out butMay-19-2011-chesney-joh pretends he’s there to pick up his mail.  When Fiz leaves, John confronts Chesney about going to the Hoyles.  John says he’s not angry, but Chesney says he’s not scared.  Chesney tells John that he doesn’t trust her.  John says Fiz knows everything.  Chesney reveals that he knows that John was Charlotte’s ‘fiancé” and all.  He’s got ya there John.  Fiz tells Chesney that what the Hoyle’s are saying about him being engaged to Charlotte is a lie and they must be crazy because they’re grieving.  Chesney’s not buying this for one second.  Chesney points out that he was at their house Christmas day, and he saw the photo and about switching off Charlotte’s life support.  He also tells John about how he went to Joy Fishwick’s place and was there when she died.  John says he happened to May-19-2011-faye-owen be in the wrong place at the wrong time and Chesney says that’s the story of his life.  Chesney asks John how he’d feel about if he told all of this to Fiz, and John says she wouldn’t understand. To which Chesney says that’s his problem.  John begs Chesney not to tell Fiz for Hope’s sake.  Chesney says he’s got until the end of the day – either he talks to her or Chesney will.  We all know that this means that it’s Chesney who probably has until the end of the day.  John’s got a pretty good victim streak so far.

Katy is still having a lot of morning sickness, as Anna comes to her aid.  In Anna’s kitchen, they talk about how to reveal Katy’s pregnancy.  Anna suggests her form teacher, but Katy quickly vetoes that.  What teenager wants to tell their teacher anything?  Anna tells her she’ll have to tell the head of school the truth but Katy thinks she’ll flip.  Faye doesn’t seem to happy to see Katy there onceMay-19-2011-owen-fiz-katy-pregn again so Katy leaves.  Anna walks Faye to the bus and tries to explain morning sickness and that it’s a woman’s issue.  Faye asks if Katy is pregnant but Anna doesn’t answer.  Faye sneaks off the bus and chases down Owen and informs him that she knows something he doesn’t.  She makes Owen promise that he can’t tell anyone that she told him.  He promises, and she tells him that Katy’s pregnant.  Owen thinks she’s spreading lies, but Faye tells him to ask her himself.  Owen tracks down Katy and asks her dozens of questions and asks her out to eat.  Katy avoids going to eat with her dad and he says that anyone else would think she was suffering from morning May-19-2011-chesney-john-trap sickness.  Katy’s face seizes up at the mention and Owen sees that it’s true.  Owen threatens to do all sorts to Chesney but Katy says if he touches Chesney he’ll never see her again.  Fiz watches this altercation and Owen tells her how Katy’s pregnant.

Chesney gets a call from Katy at the market saying Owen is looking for him and tells her he’s on his way home.  Only, John has shown up at the market stall.  Erm, who is looking after baby Hope?  John tells Chesney they need to talk.  Chesney says he’s got his own problems and tells John how Katy’s pregnant and Owen knows and is after him.  John tells Chesney again that he and Charlotte were not engaged and that he wants to bring Chesney to the Hoyle’s to have it out with them once and for all.  Don’t go Chesney!  He’s going to trap you in the Hoyle’s newly renovated basement of horrors!  Chesney says he won’t go because Katy needs him now but John begs that he’s trying to save his family.  Chesney agrees to go.

At the Hoyle’s, no one answers the door so Chesney wants to go home.  Chesney is surprised to find that John has a key to their home (run, Ches, run!) and tells Chesney to go in but Chesney’s hesitant.  Inside the home, they look around for the Hoyle’s and John tells Chesney to look down in the cellar while he checks upstairs.  Chesney opensMay-19-2011-katy-fiz-hug the door to the basement and finds the Hoyle’s bound to the bar rail.  As he runs down to unleash them they all look up at John standing in the door way of the cellar telling them “it’s not what it looks like.”  Whenever anyone says “it’s not what it looks like” it’s always exactly what it looks like – possibly worse.

Meanwhile, over at Katy’s flat, she Owen and Fiz are waiting for Ches but he’s not answering his mobile.  They hear a knock at the door only it’s John.  John tells Fiz that he’s left Hope with Maria since he had some errands to run.  Errands, eh?  John tells them that he just spoke to Ches on the phone since he rang for Fiz at home.  John says that Chesney seemed upset and scared (well, that’s not May-19-2011-sean-shirt a lie at least).  John says that Chesney just wanted to tell Katy that he’s sorry and he just wishes things could be different.  Fiz asks if it sounded like he’s run away and John says it sounded like that.  Owen figures that’s no surprise and Katy tells him to get out.  Katy sobs but Fiz comforts her saying it’s going to be alright while John stares up into the heavens in the background.  Let’s hope so!

Sean is enjoying a lovely morning-after breakfast with Marcus and wishes he didn’t have to leave.  Marcus says that the sooner he leaves, the sooner he’ll be back and Sean says he’ll be there waiting.  May-19-2011-rosie-jason-makeup

Rosie comes to Jason’s to “give him a second chance.”  She figures he’s behaved like an insensitive moron but she’ll take him back.  Jason tells her that maybe he doesn’t want to move on and he’s upset about having Tommy Duckworth naked.  Rosie is angry that suggesting that something might have actually happened.  Rosie and Jason have a row in the street over what happened with Tommy.  Jason goes to see Tommy at the garage and Tommy tells him it was a stitch-up.  Tommy tells Jason that Rosie is a good thing and to apologize.  Later in the pub, Eileen does an intervention between Rosie and Jason and tells them that they’re made for each other and need to sort things.  Rosie says that she was insulted by how he and Tommy were May-19-2011-tyrone-quit-weatherfield making a joke about her sister’s sexuality.  Jason apologizes and they’re back on.

At the garage, Kevin has ordered a new hydraulic lift for HIM to use at that garage that he bought on his own.  Kevin goes on about how fantastic his new lift is and tells Tyrone that he bought it on his own accord with his lottery winnings.  Tommy points out that it’s rather tight in the garage with that lift in there now.  Kevin tells Tyrone that he wants to split the business now and Tyrone’s not happy to hear that but Kevin says he gave him his chance to go in on it.  He really can’t do that.  Tyrone is upset that the lift is just another thing that Kevin has that he hasn’t.  Tommy tries to cheer him up and tells him that time heals.  It sounds like Tyrone is giving up and Tyrone thinks he just might.  Tyrone tells Tommy that his whole life is a bad day and that he might just walk away from Weatherfield.  May-19-2011-dennis-rita

Sophie tells Rita all excitedly about how fantastic the charity housing was in Nottingham.  Dennis asks Sophie that if in the future, she might refrain from telling people where she found him.  Norris let it drop in the pub, according to Rita.  Sophie apologizes telling him she didn’t even think.  Dennis says he doesn’t want to make a big song and dance about it.  Dennis says he feels ashamed that he was down and out.  Sophie says he shouldn’t be ashamed because all she ever thinks about him is pride and Rita agrees.

– How has Chesney been the only person to see through John Stape? Thank goodness somebody has.

– Marcus and Sean back together!

– Tommy telling Tyrone that Kevin is just “a big tool with a big tool.”  Touché!

– Eileen trying to help Rosie and Jason get back together.  Say what you want about Eileen being a miserable cow but she’s got heart.

– John just LOVES to kidnap people.  What does he think will happen now?

– Does anyone else think it’s rather strange to see Rita behind the Kabin counter with any other man but Norris? (Dennis Tanner)

– What a manipulative little thing that Faye is.  Her and Amy Barlow will be the best of friends one day.

– Is Sean borrowing blouses from Eileen’s closet now?  I thought I was having a seizure looking at that shirt.

– John will just lie to the bitter, bitter end.

– Katy is worried if she tells her teachers at school about her pregnancy that they’ll flip.  They’re going to figure out you’re pregnant sooner or later, and I’m not exactly sure that being pregnant is a good excuse to miss exams.  Unless… you get a really long doctor’s note?  She’d have to rearrange her schooling at a later date possibly in a different school.  Too bad Katy didn’t think that being a pregnant teenager would be rather difficult.

– Sometimes I like when there is music playing in the background on Corrie in such scenes like in the Rover’s, the salon etc.  But, sometimes it’s so loud over the actor’s voices that I find it annoying that I have to strain to hear what they’re saying.  Case in point: Anna’s kitchen when Katy was talking about revealing her pregnancy.
